Proverbs Chapter 6 Verse 16 to 19
“ There are six things the Lord hate, seven that are detestable to him
- Haughty eyes
- A lying tongue
- Hands that shed Innocent blood
- A heart that Devises wicked Schemes
- Feets that are quick to rush into evil.
- A false witness who pours out lies
- A Person who stirs up conflict in the community “
Another version of the Bible describes this as “Proud Look”, synonyms to haughty according to google were Proud, Vain, Arrogant, Snubbish and some other words. There are Quite a number of places where God had shown his detest for pride in the bible. Different verses in the bible have portrayed his hate and so as many stories we have read in the bible.
An example of one of those verses is Proverbs 15:25 which says The LORD will destroy the house of the proud: but he will establish the border of the widow. There are also many. A very popular story of pride and high look is the story of King Nebuchadnezzar, Nebuchadnezzar was humbled by God for boasting about his achievements, lost his sanity and lived like an animal for seven years, according to Daniel, chapter 4. When his sanity was later restored he praised and honoured God. God detest the Proud, Stay away from pride, it leads to destruction and cause God’s wrath.
A lying Tongue
God Detest anything sin, Lying however is a a sin and God hates it too. Lying is simply the acting of not saying the truth. Nowadays, we Christians tend to classify things and induce our opinion into the word of God covering our sins with mere shallow beliefs and instinct. We all should remember the popular saying ” all liars shall perish in the lake of fire without forgiveness”. If you are a Liar you will be forgiven if you confess your sins, a lot of liars have marked numerous events in the bible and they got the repercussion. One of the most popular is the story of the couple (Ananias and Sapphira) who lied that they brought all they had to the church to peter, The bible records that they were struck by sudden Death. May God help us to deceit from lying.
Hands that shed Innocent Blood
Numerous verses of the Bible tells us of Gods hate for shedding of Innocent blood, Proverbs chapter 1 verse 10 to 16 tells us about the writer’s (Solomon) against the shedding of innocent Blood. Those who shed innocent Blood will surely reap the fruit of their actions, their reward is Death … DESTRUCTION.
Feets that are quick to rush into Evil
To those who lie in wait for innocent blood, who ambush harmless souls, whose feets rush into evil, who are swift to shed blood. The bible says these men lie and wait for their own blood; they ambush only themselves. such are the paths of all who go after ill gotten gain; it takes away their life.
A heart that devises wicked schemes
A fool finds pleasure in wicked schemes, but a person of understanding delights in wisdom (proverbs 10 : 23). The Bible calls the set of people fools. To those who belong to this category, Ponzi scheme creators and self centered idealist, you should know that Ill gotten treasures have no lasting value (proverb 10 : 2a), God also condemns the act of Fraud and Fraudsters are hated by the people. If you are one of this kind of people , Please depart from this evil ways and seek the merciful face of God.
A False witness who pours out lie
A false witness pours out nothing but lie, They are full of deceit. Doing harm to the innocent and mocking Justice. False witnesses will perish , Yes they will perish unless they confess their sins, the bible says in Proverbs chapter 19 verse 9 that “false witness will not go unpunished, and whoever pours out lies will perish”. the sad truth is that many of the times, we have been a false witness ourselves , probably for the sake of our friend or for our gain, this could have been in mere arguments or a small occurrences. May the Holy spirit help us to stay away from sin in Jesus name.
A person who stirs of Conflict
Ideally and culturally anybody that finds pleasure in starting or stirring up conflict is devil sent .From Proverbs chapter 6 verse 13 to 14 “… who winks maliciously with his eye, signals with his feet and motions with his fingers, who plots evil with deceit in his heart— he always stirs up conflict. A false witness who pours out lies and a person who stirs up conflict in the community. A hot-tempered person stirs up conflict, but the one who is patient calms a quarrel. May God help us to be calm and conflict repellent in Jesus name.
